As discussed at our meeting in December, 2006, we will collect items throughout the year for "Options for Individuals".
They are a non-profit day-training program that serves mentally and physically challenged adults.
Their director is Karen Baker and she can be reached at 636-9198. Their facility is on South 4th Street.
Their "associates" are brought in daily from group homes, assisted living centers, etc.
Very few of them live at home due to the care required. Some of the associates arrive in the morning without
anything for lunch, so Options likes to keep soups well stocked. Many of the associates are incontinent so
lots of Depends need to be kept on hand. For those that just have an "accident", some extra clothing is kept on hand.
The Community Support Specialists that work with these individuals on a daily basis take many of the associates
into the community to do everyday activities to keep them from feeling isolated. Some go bowling, some help
deliver Meals On Wheels, some help man the info booth at the Louisville Science Center, etc.
Below is a list of items most needed.
Monetary donations are also very welcome for larger items needed like a DVD player, coffee maker, etc.
